You Are Not Broken Beyond Repair

When this tree broke in a storm it felt like a visual representation of our family—something beautiful that had been devastated and broken by the storms of life.

We lovingly cut off the broken branches. Honestly, we weren’t sure if the tree could be saved much less be beautiful again.

Over the next year, we added support to the trunk, and the tree sent new shoots all around the damaged branches.

As the tree grew new branches, we trimmed the entire tree, pruning the healthy branches so the tree could be balanced, increasing its overall strength to withstand the next storm.

Not only has the tree survived, but it is fuller than ever, its trunk is upright, its roots are stronger, and it can support more blooms.

You can’t even tell that it was devastatingly broken at one time. It has become even more magnificent than before.

God used this tree to visually teach me what he was doing in my life and the life of our family.

We may be wounded in the storms of life, but there is hope.

God heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. (Psalm 147:3)

It takes a strong and courageous person to face their fears, face their pain, and allow God to transform them through the process.

But that is exactly what it takes to cross over into the life God designed us for.

It’s not that storms won’t come, but we learn to trust God more and more, and the next storms don’t devastate us.

We have grown inner strength and continue to learn to trust him in each new circumstance.

Turning Trauma into Triumph

Did you notice the support to the trunk? We didn’t do it alone, and you don’t need to do it alone either.

God has designed the body and community to support us and help strengthen us.

And that is how we become magnificent, together.
